Imphal, July 30 2013:
Chief of Lambung Village JS Dalno Anal declared the election to the Lambung Village Authority held on 20th April, 2013 by some 'vested interest parties' as null and void.
The Chief has also condemned the action of SDO Chandel, who issued an order without proper verification.
Addressing a press meet at Japhou Bazar in Chandel district headquarters today, JS Dalno Anal said that as per the customs and traditions of Anal tribe, election of village authority could be held at the Village General Assembly after dissolving the incumbent authority members when they expired their term and then the new members have to be elected from amongst the villagers by proposing the potential candidates by the villagers.
However, some vested interest parties formed the Lambung Village Authority Election Commission and conducted the election of Village Authority members without the knowledge of the incumbent Authority members and without the consent of the villagers on 20th April, 2013, thereby, violating the existing customs and traditions of Anal tribe.
So, the Lambung Village Authority and villagers declared the election conducted by the Lambung Village Authority Election Commission on 20th April, 2013 as null and void.
The Chief also appealed to the concerned authority and the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel to initiate action against Killushiva Kumar Naidu, SDO Chandel for issuing order of New members of Lambung Village Authority without proper verification as well as for not issuing Notice calling Objection for changing the Village Authority Chairman.
In the press meet, LH Starson, one of the villagers, said that the new Village Authority members led by ST.
Ngamrul, a self styled Chief and his colleagues, are not recognized by the villagers of Lambung as they were not elected with the consent of the villagers.
As such, the concerned authority and the District Administration should not cooperate with the said new Authority members until and unless the villagers unanimously elected a new Village Authority.
Among others, Assistant Village Chief SR Kohluwng and Village Secretary KL.
Thunglen were also present during the press meet.
