Thoubal, December 29 2021:
Former chief minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh has categorically stated that the BJP government at the Centre is not going to provide additional fund to the state for having a BJP government nor lesser fund even if Congress party rules the state.
Ibobi Singh made this remark while addressing the gathering at a one-day political conference for Congress party organised by Lilong Block Congress Committee at Khekman under Lilong AC on Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event attended by people from 44 polling stations of Lilong AC, Ibobi appealed to people of Lilong to support INC intending candidate Sayed Anwar Hussain in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
According to the former CM, people will witness a change in the state after the Assembly election as there is no guarantee that a party will continue to rule for successive terms.
There is a wrong belief among people that Centre will provide less fund if Congress happens to rule the state.
This indeed is not true as there is no way New Delhi could decide fate of Manipur and the state is entitled to get its exact share, he said; adding that there is nothing to beg from the Centre and the Centre would not provide less fund to the state for having a government of another party.
The former CM further said the previous government created new districts in the hills to facilitate administration and urged the present government to announce at least one new project each for the newly created districts.
He also alleged that the present government is still unable to complete inauguration of all the projects initiated by the previous Congress government.
On the tardy developmental process in Lilong, the former CM alleged that former MLA of the constituency was unable to deal with people properly and hence could not take up development projects.
He also claimed that it was only Congress party which treats every people equally and initiates inclusive development.
He then urged people to elect Congress candidates in the upcoming election and make the party to gain absolute majority.
CWC member and former deputy CM Gaikhangam, who also attended the political conference, while likening the present BJP and CM Biren led government to 'Photo Gi Leingak' said there is no hope of the people from the present government.
He also alleged that the present government does nothing but talks more and does not hesitate to speak that the previous government did nothing despite standing on the structures developed by the past Congress government.
MPCC president N Loken, who also attended the political conference, said that BJP is not capable of comparing with Congress party and the present government would not return again.
In his speech at the event, Syed Anwar Hussain promised to end suffering of the people of Lilong AC if elected in the upcoming election.
He also promised to provide benefits of Housing For all scheme to every family in Lilong AC .
