Imphal, November 29 2024:
The JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Laishram Kamalbabu from the 57th Mountain Division army camp, Leimakhong, has announced plans to launch intense agitations from Saturday and urged public to extend support and cooperation.
Kamalbabu, a native of Assam's Cachar district staying at Khurkhul village in Imphal West, left home on November 25 afternoon to report for work at the Leimakhong Military Station.
He has been missing since then.
A sit-in protest was held along the Kanto Sabal road leading to Leimakhong, with protesters demanding the safe release of Kamalbabu.
The protestors barricaded passage of army vehicles from the Leimakhong camp along the road.
Speaking to reporters, JAC convenor Laishram Ratan informed that it had set a three-day deadline for the safe return of Kamalbabu to the JAC and his family, but no response has been received from the army.
Opining that the public need to launch movement and have firm resolve to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future, he revealed that the JAC would launch an intense form of agitation starting Saturday.
At the same time, Ratan urged the public to support the movement, sending a clear message to the army that such incidents are unacceptable and should not be repeated.
Movement of all army vehicles along the route will be obstructed during the agitations, he added.
