FOB Senapati organises ICOP on vaccination

Imphal, November 27 2021: A one day Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP) on COVID-19 vaccination was organised by Field Outreach Bureau, Senapati under the ministry of Information & Broadcasting at Rikhumai Taphou village, Senapati district on Saturday.

The programme was attended by ADC Senapati former deputy chairman Holison Raomai and Rikhumai Taphou village secretary Ng Thekho Prince as chief guest and guest of honour respectively while district immunization officer Dr Ng Peter was resource person.

Delivering the keynote address, field publicity officer Waribam Urmila stated that the ICOP was organised to celebrate India's remarkable achievement of 100 crore COVID-19 vaccination and also to create awareness among the masses of Senapati on the importance of vaccination against COVID-19.She mentioned that at 19 per cent Senapati district is the lowest in COVID-19 vaccination rate in Manipur and urged the people to get vaccinated.

Speaking as the resource person, Dr Ng Peter noted that the main reason for reluctance of the people to get vaccinated is out of fear of side-effects of the vaccine and reasoned that there is no medicine or vaccine on earth that has no side-effects.

The benefit of getting vaccinated far outweighs the mild side effects and therefore everyone should get both doses of the vaccine to protect themselves and also to protect others from COVID-19.He stated that Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) like wearing face mask, social distancing, washing hands or sanitizing are only temporary means of fighting the pandemic.

But these cannot go on forever and therefore, he emphasized once again that vaccination is a more permanent solution to fighting the disease.

As part of the integrated communication and outreach programme, Kaleidoscopic Artiste Association, a Private Registered Troupe (PRT) under Regional Outreach Bureau, Imphal showcased Thang-ta, stick dance and Lai-haraoba dance.

Later, a quiz competition was also conducted and prizes distributed.
