Major General E.J Kochekkan, chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) passed away in Nagaland last night.
After carried out all the formalities, his mortal remains have been taken to his native state Kerala this evening.
Late Eppen Jacob Kochekkan's son and daughter arrived in Dimapur early today to accompany their late father's mortal remains.
According to sources, E.J Kochekkan died due to cardiac arrest at around 9 pm on Saturday at Rangapahar Military base, off Dimapur.
E.J Kochekkan became the chief of Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) in the month of March this year succeeding Lt Gen Mandhata Singh.
Few days ago, E.J Kochekkan had held series of meetings with the Naga underground groups in Dimapur on the cease fire matter.
It is worth noting that E J Kochekkan was posted in Manipur for a very long period on different capacities.
Some eight years ago E.J Kochekkan was posted as the Commander of 9 Sector with headquarters at Kangla, in the heart of Imphal.
Few years later, after being posted elswhere, Maj Gen.
E.J Kochekkan came back to Manipur as the GOC of 57 Mountain Division.
E.J Kochekkan was decorated with Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
