Incessant rain destroys 40 acres of paddy fields

Senapati, August 27 2018:
The incessant rain in Senapati district have taken its toll on the cultivated paddy fields in the district with a total loss accounted to crores of rupees while reports of devastated paddy fields and canal destruction were filed endlessly, said a source.
In another miserable report filed by owners of paddy field, around 40 acres transplanted field along with irrigational canal was washed away by landslide as a result of incessant rain that has poured down between August 10 and 15.It is also reported that the paddy field of 14 farmers situated at Tajai which is about 12 Kms from Senapati on the way to Oklong Khunao were buried under the landslide which has the capacity to produce about 2000 tons of paddies on average.
The disaster stricken farmers appealed the concerned authority to take stock of the situation and provide relief funds to compensate the lost incurred by the natural disaster, it added.
