Widening of Mayai Lambi in full swing

Imphal, July 27 2013 : With the first phase of widening of Mayai Lambi road from Keishampat to Ningthemcha Karong completed, the second phase, which would cover from Ningthemcha Karong to Mayang Imphal Bazaar area, has been taken up in full swing.

People settling along Mayai Lambi have started dismantling their own houses giving way for the road widening process.

Earlier, the State Government decided to widen the road by 75 metres from the road median on both sides.

However, following strong public protest, the decision was later on revoked and fixed at 50 metres from the road median on both sides.

Now, everything settled, the road widening process has started in full swing.

The officials of PWD, SDO Wangoi and SDC of Mayang Imphal are constantly monitoring the road widening process and eviction of where private houses falling within the areas earmarked for land acquisition.

To prevent any unwanted incident during the course of eviction, security personnel have been engaged.
