Imphal, March 27 2019: Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) selected Sangai Express Staff Reporter Nando Waikhom and Poknapham Staff Reporter Bramacharimayum Debchandra Sharma for its Media Fellowship.

Nando Waikhom is the only child of Waikhom Nageshwor Meitei and Wikhom Ongbi Nalini Devi of Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai, Imphal East.

Notably two other Senior Reporters of this newspaper, namely Sapam Aruna, Liklai Leima, Laishram Samungou have also been conferred different journalist awards and media fellowship in the recent past.

The Media Fellowship which will be endorsed to the two journalists aims to strengthen media advocacy on issues of viral hepatitis through a human rights lens.

The major aim of the fellowship includes creating awareness among the general populace on issues surrounding viral hepatitis by creating opportunities for state journalists to research and report stories about the scenario of viral hepatitis in the State with special focus on hepatitis C, its myths and misconceptions, government's sensitivity towards the issue, stigma and discrimination associated with it and access to essential medicines as a public health concern.
