GR team comes under PLA attack in Bishnupur

An ROP team of 6/8 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade had a narrow escape in a bomb attack at Kiyamba Shanglen Forest area in Bishnupur district early Tuesday morning.
RPF/PLA has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a statement, Chief of Department of Publicity of Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) Bangkim said that the attack was carried out a Special Warfare Team of PLA, the armed wing of RPF, as part of its ongoing fight against the Indian security forces to liberate Manipur.
The attack came hours after a jawan of 40 Assam Rifles was killed in an IED explosion at Keishampat in the heart of Imphal city yesterday.
The bomb planted on the roadside as a booby trap near the main gate of Kiyamba Shanglen Forest went off as the Army personnel who were on a patrol duty reached the site.
They escaped the attack unhurt.
In a swift action after Tuesday's attack which happened around 6 am, Bishnupur district police commandos reportedly nabbed two top women leaders of an underground outfit .
Meanwhile, the body of Rajeev Kumar Sharma, who was killed in the Keishampat explosion yesterday, has been taken to his native state after post mortem examination.
The 24-year-old 40 Assam Rifles jawan who hailed from Himachal Pradesh, succumbed to the injuries at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) later in the evening.
