Imphal, May 26 2018:
Joint Students' Forum, DM College of Science, Arts and Commerce, has urged the State Government to take up necessary steps to convert DM College into a full fledged university, including recruitment of required staff and construction of infrastructures.
Addressing a press meet held at the office of the students' union of DM College of Arts, today, convenor of the joint students' forum, Arambam Vikash informed that the Government has not made any clarification regarding the process of upgrading the college into a university till date although a gazette notification for enforcement of the Dhanamanjuri University Act 2017 was issued on April 6 this year.
He went on to state that there is no specific announcement made on the curriculum to be followed and the number of postgraduate courses and subjects that will be added in the university so far.
The Govt has also mentioned nothing about the number of teachers to be added or the infrastructural development to be taken up.
Hence, the process for converting DM College of Arts, Science and Commerce into DM University still seems to be far away, he lamented.
Demanding the State Govt to take up all the necessary steps for transforming DM College of Science, Arts and Commerce into a full fledged university, the convenor also asked the Government to give a clear cut information regarding the plans and processes which have been decided for execution in the near future, by May 30 .
While lauding the Government for converting DM college into a university and enforcing the Dhanamanjuri University Act 2017, Vikash cautioned that the Government would take full responsibility for any unwanted incidence which may happen inside the college campus if the Government fails to meet the demands of the joint students' forum by May 30 .
