Swachh Survekshan 2020 Regional Workshop held

Imphal, September 25 2019: Swachh Survekshan 2020 Regional Workshop was held at City Convention Centre Imphal Wednesday.

Joint Secretary & Mission Director SBM, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, VK Jindal, State Mission Director SBM (U) & Director MAHUD, Th Harikumar Singh and Commissioner (MAHUD) M Joy Singh attended the event.

Speaking at the event, Joint Secretary & Mission Director SBM, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, VK Jindal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Swachh Survekshan 2020 with an aim to make the country green, clean and free of plastics.

Urging people and all authorities concerned to co-operate and lend their hands on making the State and the country clean, he mentioned that lack of awareness and poor maintenance of drainage systems and water bodies will lead to pollution of Loktak Lake.

Single use plastics should be curbed and all efforts should be made to make Manipur green and free of pollution by 2020, he said.

MAHUD Commissioner M Joy Singh also called for collective efforts and said that the Department along with Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and various NGOs have started campaign to effectively ban single-use plastics in the State.
