Training prog launched

A seven days training programme on scientific method of beekeeping for doubling farmers' income was opened today at Japhou village of Chandel district.
The training programme is organised by Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre, CAU under die sponsorship of National Bee Board, Ministry of Agricultural and Farmers' Welfare.
The opening ceremony of the event was graced by Krishna Kumar, Chandel DC, Ng Maipakngam Monsang, Chief of Japhou Village, Sh Manglem Monsang, Member of ADC Chandel and S, Robin, vice president of Hao Mee Research Guild, Manipur as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Chandel DC Krishna kumar stated that the purpose of the event is to achieve the goals targeted by Central Government to double the income of farmers by 2020.Dr K Ibohal, Principal Investigator of Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre, CAU, also stated that Chandel district is among the 25 districts short-listed by Niti Aayog to achieve the goal of doubling farmers' incomes by 2020.He further stated there is an instruction from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare to organise two training programmes in Chandel district under the supervision of CAU VC Prof M Premjit.
He explained that this is the second such training programme held in Chandel district and the first one was held at Chandel Christian Village.
He also promised that five farmers each from Japhou village and Chandel Christian village will be selected and given five bee-boxes each after completion of the training programme.
