DCs told to cross-check overlapping villages

A meeting of the state cabinet convened on Wednesday morning advised deputy commissioners of all the districts to look into with seriousness and cross-check villages found overlapping in two districts and put them in the district as per boundary to avoid administrative inconvenience.
The state cabinet's instruction has come after more than 500 villages were found overlapping in two districts thereby causing administrative inconvenience.
Briefing media persons after the cabinet meet chaired by chief minister N Biren Singh, government spokesperson and health minister Dr S Ranjan said all the districts of the state have their own boundries but more than 500 new villages overlapping in boundaries of two neighbouring districts have been detected.
The matter being serious and needing utmost precaution, the state cabinet discussed the same under unlisted agenda and instructed DCs to resolve the issue and put the villages under their respective districts based on genuine boundary to avoid administrative inconvenience.
According to Dr S Ranjan, the state cabinet meeting discussed around 25 listed and unlisted agendas and also discussed Governor's address to be delivered on the first day of the state assembly session which is due to commence from February 2 .
With seven departments of the state government necessitating at least one legal officer, the state cabinet approved appointment of one legal officer each for the seven departments.
The departments are skill, labour & employment, PHED, home, veterinary & animal husbandry, commerce & industries, law and public works department.
The cabinet also approved bifurcation of manpower from Imphal West prosecution branch and altogether 90 staff will be bifurcated.
They include two SPs (prosecution), two inspectors, 19 sub-inspectors, 33 assistant sub-inspectors and 34 constables, Dr Sapam Ranjan said, adding that the state cabinet also gave the approval for providing land on lease to investors from outside interested in establishing industries in the state.
As part of government's
sportspersons who brought laurels for the state, the cabinet gave the approval for providing 10 percent of the price of land procured for construction of playground and club house to NEROCA Football Club.
On another agenda, the cabinet approved appointment of one technical supervisor post for Affluent Treatment Plant (ETP) of JNIMS as also recruitment of faculty posts for Chura-chandpur Medical College.
As announced by the chief minister N Biren during his recent visit to Jessami, the state cabinet approved upgradation of PHC Jessami to Community Health Centre (CHC) and Tamei PHC to upgrade PHSC Luwang sangbam to PHC and establishment of Urban Primary Health Centre, Sagolband with required post creation.
The cabinet also approved establishment of two Eklavya residential model schools in Kamjong and Churachandpur districts as well as appointment of seven guest teachers each and six each supporting staff for these schools, the minister informed.
The state cabinet also resolved to provide ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to accident victims of Khou pum road accident occurred on December21, 2022 and financial assistance to all the injured based on severity of their injuries.
