NPP to finalise election candidates soon

Konthoujam AC ex-MLA Konthoujam Sarat, Hiyanglam AC ex-candidate Maibam Dhanabir, Mayengbam Ranjit of Wabagai AC and R Lhouvum of Saitu AC joined the National People's Party (NPP) on Wednesday.
NPP national president Conrad K Sangma extended a warm welcome to the four in a function held at the residence of Huidrom Bikramjit in Patsoi.
Speaking on the occasion, Sangma announced that a huge meeting of NPP Youth Front will be held on December 10, which would be attended by NPP leaders from all the north eastern states.
During the meeting, discussion on youth-related problems and other issues will be held, he added.
The NPP president then said that he was made aware of the candidates and the people's love for the party during his stay in Imphal for the last 3 days.
As such, he expressed firm belief that NPP will emerge as the single largest party in the upcoming election and play a huge role in the formation of the next government.
Further informing of the central office's plans to form an election committee for the state, Sangma said that the final candidates of the party in the respective constituencies will be announced after the formation of the committee.
Following this, the finalised candidates will be allowed to submit application for processing and the selection committee will announce the final list of candidates in each constituency.
Other poll-related activities will be carried out by the election committee in a consecutive manner, he conveyed.
Expressing belief of NPP's victory in the upcoming polls, the NPP president reminded that teamwork plays a vital role in the success of any organisation.
All concerned need to work taking along others as part of the NPP family, he advised.
The 60-seat Manipur Legislative Assembly will go to the polls in the early part next year.
Sangma said that NPP will finalise the fist of candidates of the party at the earliest possible time.
"The central office of NPP will be finalising and notifying the election committee (of NPP) in the next couple of days," he said.
While claiming that there is an increasing popularity of the party in the state, Sangma said that the party leaders should not leave any stone unturned to take the opportunity.
Seeing the overwhelming support from the people to the party, Sangma said, "T hope the party will emerge as the single largest party after the elections".
The function was attended by Manipur deputy CM and NPP national vice president Y Joykumar, NPP Manipur president MLA N Kayisii, NPP Manipur working president MLA Y Jayantakumar, National People's Youth Front national president Ratika Yumnam and intending NPP candidates in various constituencies.
