Imphal, July 24 2014:
The ongoing road broadening work in the city is being taken up for the sake of coming generation and to ease traffic movement, Chief Minister O Ibobi has stated.
Responding to a calling attention raised by MLA L Ibomcha on the ongoing work for widening Tiddim Road in State Assembly today, Ibobi said that the Tiddim Road which is one of the most important main roads in the city has been broadened by 19 meters in either sides from the road median and for this several residential houses and shops along the road have been dismantled and evicted already.
The CM informed that compensation has also been given to owners of the houses and shops which were affected by the road widening process and maintained that dismantling of houses and shops has to be completed first before taking up blacktopping work of the road.
Stating that instruction has been given to concerned authority to complete the road widening work at the earliest, Ibobi assured that proper drainage system on both sides of the road will be constructed in such a manner that water pipe, telephone wire including cable wires are properly placed under it.
Widening of Tiddim Road is necessary considering location of Imphal Tulihal Airport and heavy vehicular movement along the road, the CM added.
