A Cabinet sitting today decided to set up Manipur State Information and Technology Society (MSITS) and also Manipur Forest Development Agency.
The cabinet sitting was held under the chair of the Chief Minister O Ibobi today forenoon and apart from the above two agendas, it also discussed the amendment of rules of the Manipur Public Service Commission with regard to age limit for applicants, government holiday list for the calendar year 2011 and establishment of a nodal agency for implementation of Integrated Water Shed Management Programme.
While giving approval to the setting up of MSITS, the Cabinet agreed to appoint 20 staff members on contract basis to meet additional manpower required for functioning of the Society under the Science and Technology Department, a senior minister said after the Cabinet sitting.
The cabinet also approved the setting of up Manipur Forest Development Agency.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest will be the chairman of the agency and additional principal chief conservator of forest, member secretary, the minister said.
The age limit of applicants for filling up government vacant posts under the Manipur Public Service Commission will also be relaxed upto five years.
The Cabinet has approved to make an amendment of the rules relating to the matter, the source said.
General holiday to be observed by the government during the calendar year 2011 has also been approved by the Cabinet.
There will be 17 general holidays in the year to come, out of which 14 are state holidays and the rest (three day), national holiday.
