World Book Day held

Imphal, April 23 2019:
Heisnam Basantakumar Award 2019 was conferred to Nongmaithem Tombi Singh in connection with the celebration of World Book Day 2019 held at Manipur Hindi Parishad today.
The function was organized by Sahita Thoupang Lup.
Director Tourism Waikhom Ibohal Singh, Director Art and Culture Aribam Shivdas Sharma and Director Social welfare Ngangom Uttam Singh graced as the occasion as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The award comprises of a sum of Rs 10,000, a shawl and citation.
It may be mentioned that, in his short period of life, Late Heisnam Basantakumar (1950-1990) wrote a novel entitle ,"Mongpham" and Poetry entitle "Basanta Paojel" .
The award was donated by his son Balkrisna Heisnam, Director DIPR, Manipur.
During the occasion, Makunga Motang Maring talked about Dr Kamal's Madhabi, Vidyaluxmi Chingsubam on Hijam Guno's Laman, Diana Okram on Pacha Meitei's Na Tathiba Ahal Ama, Niranjana Wanglembam on BM Maisnamba's Ningthemnubi, Athena Thiyam on Malala Yousafzai's I Am Malala and Joyshree Heisnam on Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo .
