Three die, eight cases detected

Imphal, December 22 2021:
As the fear of Omicron variant of Covid-19 tightens its grip across the globe, the state reported single digit fresh cases after eight and half months on Wednesday with government bulletins reporting only eight new positive cases out of 1536 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 0.52 per cent.
Meanwhile, three new fatalities were also reported on Wednesday after three consecutive days of reporting zero death cases, which took the total tally of fatalities to 1998 .
All of them were unvaccinated denizens of Imphal West, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.
The active caseload came down to 188 out of which 33 (17.55 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availabilities in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only four reported fresh Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal East reporting highest cases at 4 .
So far, the state has recorded 96,269 positive cases and 1624 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 464 new positive cases and 21 fatalities out of which 100, new cases and 5 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 8 fresh cases (6 male & 2 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at different testing centres.
The positive cases are from Imphal East (4), Imphal West (2), Thoubal (1) and Bishnupur (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 22 patients were discharged from home isolation (7), JNIMS (8) and CCCs (7) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,669 (general population - 1,21,235 and CAPF personnel - 4,434) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,483 (general population - 1,19,055 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 188 (general population - 187 and CAPF personnel - 1) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 268 D-type and 17 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 4300 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,14,719 and 9,65,680 of them are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,103), Imphal East (27,921), Thoubal (9490), Churachandpur (10,191), Kangpokpi (2789), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9234), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6450), Chandel (2366), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (669), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (178), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,499 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) agiainst the national average of 24,829 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,67,627 tests per million population against the national average of 4,76,704 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1536 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 0.52 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.66 per cent.
