Kangpokpi, June 22 2015 :
Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union-Regional Campus Manipur (IGNTUSU-RCM) on Monday flayed the Vice Chancellor of the University allegedly for his repeated act of insulting the students of the university particularly the tribal student community and warned of seeking CBI inquiry on the matters.
Speaking to media persons at Kangpokpi, IGNTUSU President K Bowang Kho said that instead of solving the long pending problems faced by the students the Vice Chancellor shattered the dreams of many aspiring students who want to pursue post graduation in Dept.
of Pol.
Science, Sociology, MSW, Tribal studies, M.Phil.
and PhD by plummeting the number of intake per semester.
The Students' Union had sought elucidation many times as to why the Vice Chancellor and Academic Council reduced the intake capacity from 30 to 20 when thousands of graduate students are facing accommodation problems in getting admission in universities, maintained K Bowang Kho while adding that the authority failed to respond and even the joint meeting reports of the students and faculties seeking not to decrease the intake capacity had not been acknowledged.
He continued that the Vice Chancellor instead of solving the internal problems in the Varsity was busy in Sweden and Belarus signing MoU.
Therefore, we are compelled to take every step to remove the Vice Chancellor and the members of the Academic Council since the students cannot endure further with such irresponsible and careless authorities, added the president.
Meanwhile, the student union also warned of CBI inquiry over the first and second phase of the Varsity main campus construction work at Makhan if the joint inspection does not take place as demanded by the union.
The Union also warned to file a case against the Vice Chancellor if monthly stipend promised by him is not released within the next academic session.
It also reminded that the union continuously requested the University authority to ensure that the Regional Campus is shifted to its permanent Campus at Makhan by the next academic session in July 2015 but nothing has been done.
