Meet discusses CBSE fiasco

A joint meeting of student bodies, civil society organisations and guardians was held today at Thangmeiband Konthonganbi complex and the meeting deliberated on the fate of CB SE students who have not been given admit cards to appear for the Class X and Class XII exams till date.
The meeting was attended by representatives of AMSU, AMMSU, All Gorkha Students' Union, AISF, CBSE 2015 Victims' Guardians Association and many civil society organisations.
More than 1500 students enrolled in Akash Institute of Arts and Science, Kwakeithel, Akash Higher Secondary School, Ghari, Ram Krishna Higher Secondary School Ghari, MM Higher Secondary School, Wangkhei, Little Rose Higher Secondary School, Canchipur and CIS, Keishamthong have not been given admit cards for appearing this year's CBSE Class X and Class XII examinations.
One of the speakers reminded that the authority concerned has been urged to book the culprits involved in duping so many innocent students.
An FIR has also been lodged with Imphal West police.
The meeting later decided to take up necessary legal action against the CBSE regional office and heads of institutions where the students have been victimized.
The meeting strongly condemned the practice of treating educational institutions as business enterprises and students as trading commodities.
The speakers appealed to the Government to keep a vigilant eye on such schools which are established with the sole motive of earning profits.
The State Cabinet should devise a special policy for the welfare of students.
The Government should check all the schools which are mushrooming in different parts of the State whether they are affiliated to CBSE or any other board, they asserted.
