Mother, child die during delivery, JAC wants probe

Bishnupur, February 22 2018: Civil organisations, Meira Paibi and many in Torbung, Kumbi AC, Bishnupur today condemned and demanded an enquiry into the death of a mother and child during delivery at Churachandpur District Hospital yesterday.

The deceased women identified as Pukhrambam Ningol Sapam Ongbi Thoibi Devi (24) was wife of Sapam Somorjit Singh of Torbung Bazar. Thoibi is survived by her husband and a 3 years old daughter.

A public meeting held at Torbung Bazar Community Hall today formed a JAC and warned that the people will take up intense agitation if the concerned authorities failed to probe and produce the true cause of the death before February 25 .

People at the meeting alleged that the death was due to negligence on the part of her (Thoibi) personal doctor.
