Imphal, September 20 2012:
In connection with missing of ballot papers during counting of votes for 4th Panchayat Election-2012 in respect of 14/13 Uchekon Nongchup Gram Panchayat, K Munindro, who contested for the post of Pradhan has demanded appropriate action against Returning Office of Porompat Somorjit Salam.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Munindro said that when they came to know about missing of 19 ballot papers for ward number 14/13/6, the candidate and his supporters submitted an application to RO requesting him to re-count the ballot papers.
However, the RO not only refused to accept the application, but also security guards to send them out from the place.
As per the certificate issued by the Presiding Officer, there should be a total number of 494 ballot papers inside the sealed ballot boxes.
However, when the ballot boxes were opened, only 475 ballot papers were found.
As the ballot papers have been hijacked, rival candidate W Birla has been declared elected by 4 (four) votes only, said L Dorendro, who is an election agent of Munindro.
Demanding appropriate action against the RO, the Pradhan candidate and his supporters organized a protest rally from his residence at Kongba Makha Leika to Porompat Pangal Leirak today.
