Imphal, January 20 2020:
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has extended greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of the 49th Statehood Day.
She conveyed that the people of Manipur have been steadfastly marching towards the goal of all round welfare, happiness and satiety.
She stated that despite some constraints, the State has made steady progress and added that there has been significant increase in literacy, spread of higher education and host of other welfare measures.
The Governor urged the people to reiterate the resolve to reach new milestones in the years ahead and mentioned that as progress in isolation cannot be imagined, this is also an appropriate occasion to express solidarity with the rest of the country for attaining the National objectives of development through harmony and peace.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh has also conveyed greetings to the people of Manipur.
Reminding that Manipur attained Statehood on January 21, 1972, thus fulfilling a long cherished aspiration of the people, the Minister remarked that it is indeed a joyous occasion to celebrate.
He further urged the people to pledge to work together and bring peaceful coexistence, equal development and prosperity to the State.
