Man found buried

Imphal, January 20 2013 :
The body of a man was found buried at a gorge near Pukhao Ahallup Nungchep crossing along Imphal-Saikul road under Lamlai Police station today.
The body has been removed by Lamlai Police after it was came across by some boys of Pukhao Ahallup who went hunting for birds with their dogs at around 8:30 am today.
As soon as they reached the spot, the dogs started sniffing and scratching the ground.
Suspicious of the conduct of the dogs, the boys went inside and started digging only to found legs of the victim protruding much to their surprise.
The boys then rushed to the village and told their elders who in turn informed the police.
At around 1 pm, police came and dug up the ground using an excavator and managed to take out the body.
The body, which is that of a male, was found buried nude 4 feet below the ground.
His head and forehead bore injuries marks presumably from hitting by wooden logs.
His hands, eyes and mouth were tied with cloth.
The police also recovered the handle of an axe.
Police said that the victim appears to be a non-Manipuri.
But nothing could be confirmed with surety as the body is already in a decompose state.
The body has been kept at the mortuary of JNIMS.
