IT consultants for improving power distribution system

Appointment of IT consultants is in the process to improve the power distribution system in 13 towns of the state by the Power department under the Re-Structure Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP).
According to a highly reliable official source from the Power department, the power distribution system in the state has certain loopholes.
There is need to bring about a huge reform in the power distribution sector.
As such, under the Central Sector Scheme of the 11 five year plan, there are provisions to appoint IT consultants.
The source further revealed that the scheme is being implemented under the Ministry of Power, GoI and has been approved by the Steering Committee at a meeting convened on March 2, 2011 .
The Power department have also issued tenders for the post of IT consultants.
An order has been issued in this regard by the state Power department to the MS Feedback-Venture Private Limited, New Delhi, to employ IT consultants for the first phase.
The towns where the IT consultants will be engaged are Bishnupur, Kakching, Lilong town, Lilong imphal West, Mayang Imphal, Moirang, Moreh, Nambol, Ningthoukhong, Shamurou, Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar, Thoubal and Imphal city.

reported that under the Re-Structure Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP), the work for fitting underground cable in Paona bazaar, Thangal bazaar, MG Avenue and other areas in Imphal have been completed, the source added.
It further adds that installation of pre paid metres will shortly be completed.
And the fitting of underground cables in Keishampat and along the secretariat road will also be taken up shortly.
