Imphal, September 18 2013: A CRPF vehicle mechanic died following a road mishap at Iroisemba in Imphal West district yesterday.

Laishram Amarjit (37), a native of Naoremthong Laishram Leirak in the district was killed after a self-accident that took place around 6:55 pm, the family said.

The fatal mishap occurred when he was returning from work riding alone on an Activa scooter.

He was taken to Shija hospital here but later succumbed at 8:30 pm the same day after a brief treatment.

The victim was working as a vehicle mechanic with 119 Battalion of CRPF stationed at Langjing.

However, the family has said they think he was murdered as the bruise marks on his body have indicated foul play.

Lamphel Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident and begun looking into it.
