Dr Meinya calls for resolving political crisis

Imphal, February 18 2025: Former Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya has urged the central BJP leaders to appoint a chief minister of Manipur at the soonest to resolve the ongoing political issues in the state promptly.

Speaking as the chief guest of the 7th Foundation Day celebration of Old Age Home, Langjing Achouba on Tuesday, Dr Meinya lamented that N Biren tendered resignation as the chief minister rather than striving for resolving the crisis that broke out in the state on May 3,2023, consequently leading to the imposition of President's Rule.

"Now, there is uncertainty about the direction in which this crisis is headed.

In such a situation, it is crucial for the central BJP leaders to immediately appoint a new chief minister for early resolution to the present political crisis in the state, he stressed.

Asserting that the central government must take all necessary steps to uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur, Dr Meinya also expressed concern that if a new chief minister is not appointed in a timely manner, a standoff could arise between the people of Manipur and the BJP government.

Presided over by Old Age Home chief advisor RK Maipaksana, the function was also attended by Manipur State Social Welfare Board former chairperson Dr RK Nayansana, Langjing Achouba Gram Panchayat chairperson Sorokhaibam Sijust, Langjing GP Ward No 1 member Wahengbam Birla Singh and Old Age Home advisor Dr TM Rajen Ayangba as guests of honour.

Gifts were also presented to residents of the home on the occasion.
