YUC declares reward for finding ombudsman

Imphal, August 17 2020: Acting on an information relayed to the Young Union Club (YUC) by the Panchayat Secy of Lairenjam Meijrao Gram Panchayat, volunteers of YUC found that the construction of "Laishram Khong with culvert" under MGNREGA was missing but they found only a sign board in place of the culvert.

In a statement by YUC, the volunteers conducted an inspection of the work site and found only a sign board in place of the culvert.

The matter was taken up before the CO Zilla Parishad office however, the CO was unable to give any coherent reply, it claimed and further added that the club will give a cash reward to anyone who finds an ombudsman on the matter.

During this time of pandemic, YUC promised to extend help to those working in strict adherence of COVID SOPs and also provide awareness to them, it stated.

Further, with connection to the MGNREGA work programme underway at Irom Meijrao Nambul Mapal, the club has requested the concern authority/person to display the details of the work programme as per rules.

The club also appealed concern officials to help locate the 'missing culvert' and added that a complaint will be filed to the Manipur Human Rights Commission as to why many job card holders are withheld from signing the muster roll.
