UNC bandh paralyses normal life in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, June 17 2013:
Normal life in Tamenglong district has been severely paralyzed on the first day of the 48-hr total bandh being imposed by United Naga Council (UNC) and supported by various social organization of Tamenglong today.
All institutions, market places and shops and all Government offices in Tamenglong remained shut down with bandh supporters seen going around with sticks telling people not to come go around during the bandh since early morning.
However, there is no report of any untoward incident till the time of filing this news report.

Speaking to this reporter, Thomas Kamei, Chairman of ZB, said that UNC has imposed the 48-hr total bandh in Naga areas in protest against the unabated communal actions and policies of the state government and the communal forces in Imphal valley and to urge the government of India to intervene immediately with an alternative arrangement pending settlement of the Indo- Naga issue.
Thomas also called upon all to extend their full cooperation and support towards the cause of Naga issue.
