UDWJA endorses TDWJA stand

Imphal, March 17 2018: The District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) has joined the Tamenglong District Working Journalists Association (TDWJA) in voicing strong condemnation against the irresponsible attitude of the 53 Tamenglong (ST) AC MLA, Samuel Jendai Kamei who verbally abused the local journalists during the recent BJP Government's 'Inauguration Fortnight' tour at Tamenglong on March 13 .

A press release issued by Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) president, R Lester Makang stated that it is unfortunate on the part of the MLA for passing such irresponsible remarks at the journalists who are working tirelessly to disseminate news for the public.

"On the contrary, many incidence where in any individuals freely issue threats and intimidation to reporters or verbally abusing them are not uncommon in Manipur and it takes a concerted effort of the press fraternity to eliminate such trend at the earliest", it said.

As a fraternal organisation, members of UDWJA are in solidarity with the members of Tamenglong District Working Journalists Association, it added.
