Imphal, January 17 2021: A rally was staged out from Napetpali to Sawombung urging the Government to provide necessary benefits to the farmers of Lamlai area who have been suffering due to negligence by the Government.

Speaking to media persons, Telem Daras secretary of Thoubal Multipurpose Project Neglected Area Development Organisation (TMPNADO) stated that farmers of this area who are majorly tenants have been deprived of the benefits of various schemes of the Government.

He demanded that the sanctioned benefits be given to the farmers at the earliest and to provide Constitutional protection to these farmers.

Further he warned that there will be a total shutdown from Sawombung till Gwalatabi area from January 23 if the Government fails to fulfil the demands of the farmers.

It may be mentioned that most of the paddy fields of Lamlai region have been deprived of water supply after the completion of Thoubal Multipurpose Project and Dolaithabi Dam.
