Trees planted

Imphal, January 17 2020:
As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada, faculty members and staff of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur, planted trees in and around the NIT campus located at Langol today.
Yesterday, the faculty members, led by the Registrar in charge Dr Khumanthem Manglen, took the Swachhta Pledge and the trees were planted today.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the event, NIT Manipur Swachhta Pakhwada campaign coordinator Assistant Professor Ngangbam Romeji said that altogether 50 trees were planted today.
As per the guidelines of the HRD Ministry to plant trees which can effectively absorb carbon dioxide from the air, the institution worked with the Forest Department and planted two tree varieties which are best for absorbing CO2 .
