Man shot dead as hunting mission goes wrong

A man died on the spot after being hit by bullets fired reportedly by his cousin during a hunting mission carried out by the duo on Saturday morning in the thick forested area of Kaihlam village in Thanlon subdivision of Churachandpur district.
The deceased man Khamkhanlian son of K Dongzamuan of Pearsonmun, Churachandpur died on a slanted tree trunk after his cousin Ginlal mistook him to be a bear and fired.
Khamkhanlian's body has been brought down to the ground from the tree and ne was hit by two bullets, one on head and another on back.
According to local sources, the duo went for hunting Saturday morning in the forest of Kaihlam village with two of their dogs.
During their hunting mission, the dogs started chasing a wild boar and just then Khamkhanlian took position on a slightly leaning tree hiding inside the bushes apparently hoping that the wild boar would appear.
Just down the steep near a cliff, Khamkhanlian's cousin Ginlal was taking position too.
After sometime, Ginlal shifted his position further up the steep slope and suddenly saw movement.
Mistaking the creature to be a bear, he opened fire only to find Khamkhanlian dead on the tree.
The victim's body has been brought down to ground by villagers.
