Open Market Sale (OMS) held in IW, Bpr districts

Under the aegis of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD), Imphal West DSO L Ibotombi and staff members conducted Open Market Sale (OMS) of rice, pulses and other essential items at Khwairamband Keithel, Lamphel Sanakeithel and Kwakeithel on Sunday.
Rice, pulses, cooking oil, salt, potato and onion were made available to people at government-fixed rates during the OMS at the three important markets of the district with rice sold at Rs 37 per kilo, Dal (Mussori) Rs 90, onion Rs 60, potato Rs 40 per kilo, and refined cooking oil at Rs 125 per litre and Rs 65 for half litre.
The CAF & PD has been carrying out OMS sales at select locations aftermath of unprecedented rise in pric -es of essential commodities amid escalation of violence in the state.
Prices of rice, flours, pulses, cooking oil, potato, onion and other food items have gone up in the past few weeks.
Under the aegis of .CAF&PD, staffers of DSO, Bishnupur led by DSO Singhajit also conducted open market sale of rice, pulses, oil, salt, potato and onion at government-fixed rates in various parts of Bishnupur district on Sunday.
People in large numbers turned up at the open market sale venues at Nambol, Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong, Moirang and Kumbi.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Singhajit informed that the sale was conducted as per directive of the government to mitigate difficulties faced by the denizens of the district to some extent and assured more such initiatives ih the coming days with approval of the government.
On the other hand, rice and other essential commodities were also made available to people at government-fixed rates during three OMS conducted under the supervision of Imphal East DSO Haobam Bhupendra and his staff members at Lamlong Keithel, Lamlai and Kongba Keithel on Sunday.
Noting that prices of essential commodities risen sharply in the state consequently impacting the people, Bhupendra told media persons that in order to lessen suffering of the people at least to some extent CAF & PD department under the initiative qf minister L Susindro started sale of rice and other essential items to the people under OMS programme.
He also informed that such programmes will be continued in market places across the state.
