Imphal, June 15 2024:
Mistrust of the Meetei community towards the Centre has increased due to siding of the Assam Rifles with Kuki militants, who continue with their terrorist activities like killing people and torching houses, stated Shiv Sena, Manipur state unit.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister and Union home minister, Shiv Sena Manipur unit said that large numbers of Assam Rifles units have been deployed in Manipur to contain the violence since May 3, 2023 .
However, the AR not only sided with the Kuki militants but also remain blind eye to their terrorist activities.
This has increased mistrust of the Meetei people towards the Centre, the memorandum said and drew attention of the PM to look into the matter.
Briefing media persons about the memorandum, Shiv Sena Manipur state unit president M Tombi informed that he had gone to Delhi recently and submitted a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi highlighting inability of the Assam Rifles to contain the violence and protect fives and properties of the people despite huge deployment of their personnel in the state.
Instead of protecting lives and properties of the people, the Assam Rifles are siding with Kuki militants, he said and demanded deployment of a neutral central force in Manipur to contain the violence and save lives and properties of the people.
Asking if activities of Kuki militants along the national highways like killing people and torching of houses are being legalised, M Tombi said that the Assam Rifles personnel are safeguarding bunkers of Kuki Narco-Terrorist instead of saving lives and properties of the people.
The territory of Manipur was created and protected by the blood of forefathers of the land and it was not a gift of India government, he said, while reiterating that Shiv Sena will never compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur.
