Senapati, May 15 2022:
Strongly condemning the statement made by Sadar Hill Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Southern Tahamzam Naga Council (STNC) has termed the SAHILCA statement as immature and senseless as different communities reside together in Kangpokpi district.
According to an STNC release, self-dictatorship ideology of SAHILCA has been revealed with its selection of few Kuki Kangpokpi-based CSOs namely Kuki Inpi, Thadou Inpi, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association (TYA), Vaiphei People's Council (VPC), Zillai Kangpokpi, Gangte Students' Organisation, Kuki Women's Union, Thadou Women's Association, Komrem Students' Association as the only civil organisations in Kangpokpi.
Such an immature and senseless statement made by SAHILCA was uncalled for, it said, while pointing out that many communities are residing in Kangpokpi and each community is represented by their own civil society organisations.
Asserting that SAHILCA does not have the right/power to selectively name which are the CSOs and not, STNC contended that SAHILCA has self-exposed their communal nature through the immature statement.
It also said that SAHILCA should realise that their immature statement has the potential to create communal chaos in the state.
STNC also reminded the state government to remain on high alert to check infiltration of illegal migrants from neighbouring countries as huge tract of lands belonging to the indigenous people have been lost due to the callousness of the state government in the past.
Any attempt by SAHILCA and its members to make the indigenous people like Kom, Chiru, Kharam, Thangal, Maram, Rongmei, Liangmai, Tangkhul, Mao, Poumai, etc., living in Kangpokpi district irrelevant in their own ancestral land will lead to an unprecedented ethnic unrest in the state, STNC warned.
