Imphal, May 15 2019: The traditional annual fishing festival "Yaithaba" of six villages under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division was held yesterday at Taret Lok river.

Denizens of Nambashi Khullen, Nambshi Khunou, Nambashi Valley and Kashung Village among others took part in the festival.

Speaking at the event, Rev MC Huiningam said that the restriction imposed by evangelist and missionaries, who came to spread Christianity, on following several customs as "sin" has resulted in the disappesarance of many culture.

Saying that such imposition cannot be seen in neighbouring States like Mizoram and Meghalaya, he appealed all to support in reviving the lost culture and tradition of many tribes of the State.

The festival was inaugurated by Phungyar AC MLA K Leishiyo.
