Radheshyam notes qualitative value of leadership

Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam has maintained that a true leader is a must in every field to achieve the intended goal for the welfare of all sections of the society and that teachers and officials should be encouraged to join training programmes to become a true leader.
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of State Leadership Academy, Keikol Koirengei, organised by the Directorate of State Council of Educational & Research Training, (SCERT) today.
Cherishing the officials and staffs of Education Department for their dedication and hard work, he lauded them for bringing a positive change in the field of education of the State.
Appreciating the various programmes initiated by SCERT to empower and imbibe the teachers with qualitative value of leadership he said that training should be imparted according to the need.
Leadership quality, he said, can be achieved through training and by nurturing the innate talents of an individual.
Leaders are born out of group having a common task to achieve, he added.
He said that in the Education Department, he said, the group is the department and achieving quality education by providing relevant education is the tasked to be accomplished.
In the Department, there are many employees who are the leaders acting according to the time, place and situation.
Leadership is required to find suitable solution and solve the problems, he added.
The Minister opined that the syllabus for the training programmes should be made according to the requirements in the field, to enable to fulfil the necessity requirement.
Director SCERT, M Meenakumari Devi said that the State Leadership Academy is set up under the National Centre for School Leadership - National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NCSL-NUEPA).
The academy was set up with the objective of building leadership capacities for change, and transformation to attain excellence in schooling, she added.
The first training course for academy will be one month for the head and principal of the schools.
The classes for the programme will be conducted by ten resource persons belonging to the selected 50 State Resource Group (SRG) of the State.
The inauguration function was attended by Director, Education Department (S), Th Rirankumar Singh, concerned officials, teachers and students.
