Renovation works in full swing for Sangai fest: Ratankumar

The Works Department is taking up the renovation works of major roads, bridges and buildings in Imphal City day and night for the upcoming Sangai Festival.
Talking to media persons at his office chamber here today, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar said that about 150 delegates from Myanmar, China, Thailand, Bangladesh and other foreign countries would attend the Sangai Festival.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has given strict instruction to take up renovation and beautification works of Imphal City.
The roads leading to Palace Compound, JNIMS, RIMS, Shija Hospital, Manipur University and Airport are being repaired in full swing besides renovating Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Sendra Tourist Home, INA Complex and other important venues of the festival.
He further said that the Transport Department would arrange about 70 buses including the semi low-floors for public transport during the festival.
The bus pick-up points would be maintained at Kwakeithel, Keishampat, Tera, Sagolband, Khongnanghogaibi, Uripok, THAU Ground, Khoyathong, Pishum, Mantripukhri, Lamlong, Porompat, Kongba and Wangkhei.
Ratankumar also appealed to the people to bear the inconveniences for some time and render full support to the renovation works being taken up for the Sangai Festival.
Works Minister along with the officials and engineers of Works Department are inspecting the renovation works around Imphal City regularly.
