Rice distributed under Annapurna Scheme at Wangoo Makha Leikai

Rice under Annapurna Scheme was dis tributed to 141 beneficiaries of Kumbi AC in a simple function organized by District Social Welfare Office, Bishnupur under the initiative of MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh at Wangoo Makha Leikai Community Hall today after it was put on hold since July 2012.Each beneficiaries got 23 kg rice under the scheme during the function.
MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh, Councillors of Kumbi Municipal Council, Gram Panchayat Pradhan & Ward members and District Social Welfare Officer, Bishnupur N Jotish attended the function as dignitaries.
After removing the deceased and double benefit beneficiaries totalling 26 from the total number of 167 beneficiaries from the constituency, 23 kg rice each was distributed to 141 beneficiaries under the scheme for the period of 6 months from October 2018 to March 2019, reports our correspondent.
Speaking at the function, MLA Kumbi AC S Bira Singh said that rice was distributed to the beneficiaries for 6 months under Annapurna Scheme after a long period of time with due approval of Central Govt to lessen the burden of economically weaker section of the society who do not get any form of benefits from various welfare scheme of the Govt.With the improvement of Law & Order situation in the State, transportation of food items like rice and other edible items from outside the State are now relatively easy and to get it distributed to the beneficiaries rather smoothly.
He also asked the audiences who are not the beneficiaries of any Govt's scheme to submit their details to the concernerd person/department to avail the benefit of various welfare scheme of the Govt.District Social Welfare Officer N Jotish said that the rice was distributed as per the instructiion of Ministry of Rural Development, GoI.
