Man held with SP tablets worth Rs.2 lakh

Imphal, June 13 2011:
Narcotic cell sleuths of Imphal West district police arrested a man with 15,120 pieces of SP (spasmo proxyvon) tablet worth around ' two lakhs in the local market.
The tablets were seized from Md Sahidur Rehman (28) of Hatta Golapati Maning Leikai by the sleuths led by OC W Ibocha in a drive conducted at his house on June 8 .
Ibocha said that Sahidur had escaped on the day of the raid but he was caught in the early hours today around 3.30 am from a house at Oinam Muslim village.
Sleuths conducted the raid after cordoning off the house of Sahidur's sister, Serabhanu.
The sleuths revealed that the tablets were brought to Imphal from Delhi via Guwahati by air.
He used to sell them by repacking in small polythene bags through one Ethem.
He has been engaging in the black marketing for the last three years, the OC alleged adding that a scooter (MN6S-3311) which Sahidur allegedly used in procuring and distributing of the item has also be recovered.
