Science topper aspires to serve as doctor

Malemnganbi Laishram, the first position holder in science stream of the Higher Secondary Examination 2024 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), has set her sights on becoming a doctor.
Malemnganbi, a student of COMET School in Changangei Uchekon scored 493 out of 500 marks to finish at the top.
Hailing from Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East, Malemnganbi is the eldest daughter of Romen Laishram and Laishram Ongbi Jugrani.
Her father, Romen, is a newspaper distributor, while her mother manages an eatery.
In an exclusive interview with The People's Chronicle, Malemnganbi revealed her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor and serving the people, a passion that she nurtured since childhood.
While she harboured aspirations of featuring among the top 10 position holders, Malemnganbi expressed sheer joy as well as disbelief at securing the first position, a feat that surpassed her expectations.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by her parents and teachers in shaping her academic journey, Malemnganbi credited them for their unwavering guidance and support.
Contrary to adhering to a fixed study routine, she adopted a flexible approach, studying whenever she felt energetic, thereby optimising her study sessions.
She highlighted the significance of attending coaching classes for subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, asserting that while coaching classes are not inherently detrimental, their necessity varies from individual to individual.
Emphasising the importance of passion and hard work over following trends, she underscored that success is contingent upon one s dedication and perseverance.
Reflecting on the challenges posed by the ongoing crisis, Malemnganbi acknowledged initial concerns regarding the completion of the syllabus.
However, she remained undeterred, navigating through the turbulent times with unwavering focus and determination.
