In continuation of its ongoing commitment towards community empowerment, the Red Shield Division of Indian Army inaugurated a modem computer lab at PK Shedu Revival Foundation Children's Home in Kathikho Karong village and a Skill Development Centre at Taphou Pudunamei village, both in Senapati district.
Both the projects have been facilitated through Operation Sadbhavana.
The computer lab at Kathikho Karong was established to address the shortage of advanced digital training facilities for the children at the orphanage.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior Indian Army officers, along with the chiefs of Karong and neighboring villages, who commended the Army's sustained efforts to uplift local communities.
The facility is equipped with seven computers, a printer, a projector, and other essential accessories, providing residents with access to modem digital literacy tools.
This initiative aims to enhance the information technology skills of local youth to improve their future career prospects.
In a parallel effort to empower local women, including widows and Veer Naris, the Indian Army also established and inaugurated a fully furnished Skill Development Centre at Taphou Pudunamei village.
The Centre is focused on teaching the art of stitching and embroidery thus offering an opportunity for women to become self-reliant and earn a livelihood.
The Centre is equipped with 15 sewing machines, three embroidery machines, 25 chairs, two tables, two almirahs, and whiteboards for conducting training sessions.
