Imphal, December 11 2013:
The Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) has termed the state government led by O.Ibobi as incapable to provide safety to lives of its people and cited the killing of the party's vice-president Houbijam Manisana at high-security zone area near Tulihal airport, Imphal on November 13 .
.HNabashyam, spokesperson of MPP told press persons in a meeting at the party's office near Pologround, Imphal that the Congress led government has failed to bring a white paper to the case by producing the culprits involved in the killing of the party's vice-president even though a month has already passed since his death.
The government has denied justice as always and tried to suppress the matter which shows their negligence and selfish motive, he added.
It may be mentioned that the MPP has staged many forms of agitations demanding the government to investigate into the murder and reward due punishment to the culprits involved in the act.
Representations had already been submitted to the chief minister O.Ibobi on November 16 and 20 with no positive response till date.
A silent rally along with a memorandum submission to the governor of the state Dr Ashwani Kumar was recently organized by the party on December 9 regarding the killing.
"The government is trying to turn a blind eye to the case and this clearly shows a political conspiracy", Nabashyam maintained.
As such, it would be wise decision to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the governor Ashwani Kumar who is on a visit to Delhi returns back to Imphal on December 13, so that the black and white of the matter can be disclosed as soon as possible, he suggested.
Regarding the ongoing dispute of the Indo-Myanmar border fencing, Nabashyam said that the party was shocked to learn of the decision taken by the ruling Congress government to include the border fencing issue in the party's manifesto even as the issue is the product of its misrule.
He also said that the state would not have gone through such hardship regarding the border fencing if the Congress government had produced the original factual works and data regarding the matter.
It is a matter of making a fool out of its people, he added.
He said that regarding the dispute at the Indo-Myanmar border, the MPP had submitted a memorandum to the prime minister of India on August 21 this year to which positive response has been shown towards the party on November 16, 2013 through a written statement received from the prime minister's office.
