However, they were intercepted by police at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai and prevented from going any further.
Meanwhile, students of NG College along with Meira Paibi members of Uripok Takhellambam Leikai staged a sit-in protest at the entrance of the locality on Wednesday, demanding restoration of peace in the state and condemning the excessive use of force by security forces on students during Tuesday's protest.
During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with the slogans, "We condemn excessive use of force against students", "Stop divide and rule policy", "India should stop proxy war immediately", and "We condemn physical assault on students".
Speaking on the sidelines, one Jackson Laishram recounted that many students including 10 from NG College, were hospitalised after security forces used excessive force during Tuesday's protest.
