AJPP submits memo to ADC JIRIBAM, sit-in protest announced

Jiribam, July 10 2014: Along with submission of an 8-point memorandum to Dr.Harmit Singh Pahuja, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, All Jiribam Panchayat Parishad, Jiribam (AJPP) has announced that the Pradhans and Members of Jiribam block will stage a sit in protest in front of the Jiribam Block Office tomorrow at 10 am.

The memorandum jointly signed by President P.Mani Singh and General Secy.

Md.Asab Uddin of All Jiribam Panchayat Parishad, Jiribam (AJPP), among others, demanded provision of 100 days' work and wages under MGNREGA scheme, delegation of powers to the Panchayati Raj institutions, increase of honourarium for employees of PRIs, introduction of 3-tier Panchayat system, and merger of the work of DRDA with the Zilla Parishad as done in other states.

Demanding posting of requisite staff in the BDO's office, Jiribam along with the post of Block Development Officer, the memorandum also sought posting of Panchayat Secretaries in the Panchayat and provision of facilities to PRI's as per guidelines of the scheme.

Saying that Jiribam block is now facing a number of problems due to vacant post of BDO, P.Mani Singh, President of All Jiribam Panchayat Parishad,Jiribam (AJPP) has drawn the attention of the government towards bringing solutions to these issues as well.
