Students burn copies of CAB

Condemning the passing of contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Lok Sabharecently, numerous students of Imphal College took out protest in front of their college gate and also burnt a copies of the Bill.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the Bill would not bring any threat to the survival of the indigenous people in North East India, said one of the protesters and added that the statement of PM is like instructing some one to sleep with a bomb under his/her's pillow.
Granting citizenship to 6 Non-Muslim communities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is mentioned in the Bill and it would have a great impact on the North East region if become an Act, he added.
He then cautioned that intense agitation will be launched if the Central Government fails to withdraw the Bill at the earliest.
Meanwhile, students of YK College, Wangjing, Thoubal also staged a protest in front of their college gate and burnt a copies of the Bill.
YK College Students Union, Boys Common Room's secretary Robinson said that the students of the college strongly condemn the passing of the Bill despite strong opposition from various sectors.
Urging the State Government to make it stand regarding the Bill clear at the earliest, he added that the union will support all the protests initiated by the CSOs and people against the Bill.
Standard College, Kongba; Biramangol College, Sawombung; Naorem Birahari College, Pangei; CI College, Bishnupur and Modern College, Porompat too held a protest demonstration and burnt a copies of the controversial Bill in their respective college's gates.
