Addict, peddlers arrested with drugs

Different teams of Manipur police arrested four persons and recovered huge quantities of opium, brown sugar and heroin from them in the past 24 hours.
According to police reports, per sonnel of Saikul police station seized 1.233 kg of opium from a drug addict on Saturday.
The arrested drug addict has been identified as Ringlen Doungul (46) son of late Seikhokhup Doungul of Saikul village.
Two teams of Saikul PS led by its officer in-charge Ng Anthony Suresh and ASI Letminlen Lupheng were reportedly on patrol duty between Saikul and Molkon, when two individuals were found loitering around in a very suspicious manner at New Saikul.
As the police team stopped them including Ringlen for verification, both revealed of being habitual drug users who met at the place and on the look-out for their daily dose.
However, on further questioning, Ringlen confided that he had kept concealed packets of opium in the house of his brother-in-law namely Lamkhogin Hangshing at New Saikul.
While Ringlen's companion was released, the police team accompanied by women personnel took Ringlen to the house of Lamkhogin Hangshing where four packets of opium weighing 1.233 Kg in total were found concealed in a sofa box as pointed out by Ringlen.
The police seized the opium and arrested Ringlen by observing all necessary formalities, it added.
In another drug seizure case, a team of Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi arrested a man with drugs estimated to worth around Rs 2,52,02,500 in the international market from Motbung Pangmol in Kangpokpi district on Friday.
The arrested man has been identified as Paomilen Haokip (35) s/o Otmang Haokip of Moreh Ward no 9.The team carried out a frisking and checking operation at Motbung Pangmol in Kangpokpi district around 8pm Friday, when Paomilen Haokip was detained and recovered a black-coloured polythene bag from his possession.
The bag contained 9 soap cases with 350gm of suspected brown sugar, 592.75 gm of opium packed in 19 containers of Khaini (chewing tobacco), 4000 pieces of WY tablets, 106 gm brown sugar, 9 mobile phones, and Rs 2,700 in cash.
The drugs are estimated to be worth around Rs 2,52,02,500 in the international market.
Both the arrested man and the seized items have been handed over to Sapermeina PS for further legal action, the report conveyed.
Meanwhile, a team of Narcotics Cell, Imphal East apprehended two young men with 12 gm of drugs from near Sangakpham DAV School on Friday.
The arrested duo has been identified as Serto David Kom (19) s/o Serto Michael Kim of Nungkot Kom Village, Senapati district and VS Chuimui (19) s/o Vashim Johnbo of Namlee Village, Kamjong district.
According to the report, the team arrested the two around 8.20 pm.
The team recovered 1 soap case containing 12 gm of heroin, along with 2 smart phones, one Honda Activa and one Aadhaar card.
The arrested persons along with the seized drugs have been handed over to Heingang PS for further action, the report added.
