State ready to welcome Rahul

Chief Minister O Ibobi today made an inspection visit of the works and arrangements being taken up at Hapta Kangjeibung , Palace Compound where General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) would be addressing a public meeting after his arrival at Imphal on December 10 .
Rahul Gandhi, who would be provided Z plus security coverage during his stay in Imphal, is expected to land at Imphal Airport at around 10:50 am on December 10 .
During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, RD & PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Parliamentary Secretaries MLA M Prithviraj and Y Megha-chandra and ex-MLA Dr Kh Loken and E Dwijamani.
Speaking to media-persons on the sidelines of the inspection, Chief Minister Ibobi said that Rahul Gandhi would be visiting the State primarily to meet and hold a convention with the newly elected members of local bodies of both the hills and the plains.
However, since the Congress workers would also be participating in the convention, the number of participants is expected to be huge.
So, the arrangement for organizing the convention has been made at Hapta Kangjeibung.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam explained that the convention is going to be a very important one.
The 26 flagship programmes of the UPA government would be discussed and highlighted to the elected representatives of the local bodies during the convention, he said, and appealed to all concerned not to call any bandh or blockade on December 10 .
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan after the inspection visit, Gaikhangam said that soon after arrival at Imphal, Rahul Gandhi would proceed to Hapta Kangjeibung where he would be welcomed by around 300 volunteers of Seva Dal.
The Ministers and MLAs present on the occasion would self introduce themselves to the General Secretary of AICC.
During his short stay for about 2 hours in the State, Rahul Gandhi would also interact with the Congress Youths and volunteers of NSUI and the Chief Minister as well as himself would highlight the issues prevailing in the State, Gaikhangam disclosed.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that all the necessary security arrangements have been put in place in connection with the visit of Rahul Gandhi.
The Z-plus security of Rahul Gandhi has already been activated with the arrival of a 22-member Special Protection Group led by Asst Inspector General Satyendra Giri.
It is said that in the public meeting at Hafta Kangjeibung, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam will deliver the welcome address and it would be followed by Rahul's speech.
After that Faleiro, North-East in charge, AICC and Chief Minister O Ibobi will address the meeting while Phunjathang Tonsing, Minister of Health will deliver the vote of thank.
The Deputy Chief Minister has appealed to all sections of the society to participate in the public rally at Hapta Kangjeibung.
