Training programme for fish farmers concludes

Chandel, February 08 2020:
A three-day skill development training programme for fish farmers of Chandel district under Tribal Sun Plan organised by ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre in collaboration with Fisheries Department, Government of Manipur concluded yesterday.
The programme commenced on February 5 at District Level Fish Seed Farm, Komlathabi, Chandel district.
In his inaugural speech, M Gojendro, Director of Fisheries Department, emphasised the need to do fish farming in a modern way to increase productivity to meet the ever-increasing fish demand in the State.
He also emphasised the need to conserve different wetlands of the State and stock the available water bodies with suitable fish species.
During the programme, Dr S Manikumar, Principal Scientist; PK Behra, Sr Technical Assistant, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre along with Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Senior Scientist, ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Imphal Centre; Dr Y Bedajit Singh, Deputy Director (Instruction), CAU Imphal and Kh Ibetombi Devi, District Fishery Officer, Chandel spoke about various fish farming methods.
Live field demonstrations were also conducted at Komlathabi Fish Seed Farm.
Altogether 50 trainees from different blocks of Chandel district participated in the skill development programme which was facilitated by Kh Ibetombi Devi, District Fisheries Officer, Chandel.
